Exploring an embodied encounter with visual experience

'but over the course of the following decade his work became part of the upwelling of art production positioned outside formalism's singular focus on the aesthetic. For Owen, this meant exploring an embodied encounter with visual experience through the alliance of abstraction and materiality.'
These words 'embodied encounter' express the feelings and connection I have been embracing through the my most recent drawings, these works exist at the moment of connection between the pen and the paper, what is left in the words of Robert Irwin is the 'relic' of the action. Whilst at first glance they may appear to represent a simple formal abstraction, on longer and slower engagement they reveal the connection between myself and time through the process of mark making - They explore simultaneously the macro and the micro.
